Pod, tipi, yurt or caravan – make camping glamping in Oban & Lorn

Pod, tipi, yurt or caravan – make camping glamping in Oban & Lorn
If you love the great outdoors, then you’ll love Oban & Lorn. It has stunning sea lochs, miles of coastline, idyllic islands, fabulous forests and heavenly hills all waiting to be explored. And there’s no better way to fully appreciate the scenery of this beautiful part of Argyll than a camping holiday. You’ll find campsites and caravan parks in idyllic settings. Wake up to watch the sun rise over the sea, watch the wildlife all around you and fall asleep to the sound of hooting owls.

For a more luxurious camping experience, you’ll find plenty of glamping options in Oban & Lorn too. With pods, tipis, yurts and caravans, you can enjoy the countryside and get closer to nature - with all the comforts of home. The great thing about glamping is that you can do it at any time of the year – it’s not just for summer holidays. From comfortable cabins to toasty tipis complete with wood-burning stoves, you can stay cosy and dry whatever the weather. Glamping is ideal if you’re planning to get active outside. For cyclists and walkers, it means you don’t have to carry camping gear with you. Most glamping accommodation will come complete with bedding and towels, enabling you to travel even lighter. After hard day in the hills or long day on the bike, you don’t need to worry about putting up a tent and blowing up a mattress. Just walk in, make yourself comfortable and sink into a sumptuous bed.

The camping pods at Oban Caravan and Camping Park are ideal for glamping near Oban. The cleverly designed little cabins can sleep four, with the seating area converting into a king-size bed and a single bed. They’re centrally heated and include all the mod cons, from fridge-freezer to microwave. The site itself is stunning, sitting right by the sea with magnificent views to the Island of Kerrera. You’ll feel like you’re million miles away from the bustle of modern life, but just three miles down the road is Oban with its shops, restaurants and other facilities. Camping pitches are also available. Another great glamping option is Appin Holiday Homes, which has eight static caravans on the water’s edge at Loch Creran.

For an island glamping adventure head to Sunnybrae Caravan Park on the Isle of Luing near Oban. This small, family-run business has eight self-catering caravans overlooking the Cuan Sound, each with with glorious sea views. Spot seals, otters, seabirds and porpoises from the comfort of your sofa!

If you fancy an autumn or winter camping break in Oban & Lorn without leaking tents and muddy tent floors, why not give glamping a go?
