Get the Best of the West at Scotlandís finest boutique festival!
Best of the West (BOWFest) is a cracking festival in a stunning setting. Every year music lovers from around the world flock to the grounds of Inveraray Castle to celebrate the very best in Scottish music, food and drink. It’s a magical mix and makes for an unforgettable weekend. So if you want to dance to some of Scotland’s top bands, feast on food from Argyll’s larder and sample a dram or two, then make a date with Best of the West on the 8th, 9th and 10th of September 2017.

Let’s start with the line up…
With 21 bands performing on two stages across three days, you’re in for a musical treat at Best of the West. Friday night sets the standard for the weekend with Argyll bands Skipinnish and Heron Valley headlining. Watch the crowd go wild to their high energy take on traditional Scottish music. Saturday night sees two giants of the Scottish music scene take to the stage. Skerryvore – voted Live Act of the Year in 2016 at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards – have an incredible live sound while a Blazin’ Fiddles performance is an intoxicating experience. Also up on Saturday is Hunter and the Bear with some thunderous live rock. The fantastic music continues into Sunday, with Eddi Reader and Tide Lines headlining. But it’s not all about the headline acts. At Best of the West you can discover some up and coming gems, from Celtic harpist Josie Duncan to the contemporary folk songs of the Iona Fyfe Band.

And on to the food…
Best of the West is foodie heaven! The festival aims to showcase Argyll’s local and regional specialities and boy does it create a festival feast. Whether you want sample a local delicacy, chow down on a burger of get some top cooking tips from some of Scotland’s best chefs, Best of the West is the place for you.

The BOWFest Festival Kitchen will host local celebrity chefs on the Saturday and Sunday cooking some of their signature dishes. Watch top chefs including Gary Maclean, Masterchef: The Professional 2016 winner and Graeme Cheevers, Martin Wishart Loch Lomond, demonstrate their skills and cook up a storm live on stage.

Head to the Food and Drink Marquee hosted by Food From Argyll for a delicious choice of snacks and meals, including seafood from Loch Fyne Oysters, venison burgers from Winston Churchill Venison and a reviving cup of coffee from Home Ground Coffee.

Mine’s a pint, or a dram, or a cocktail…
Local favourite the George Hotel hosts the beer and cocktail bars in association with WEST Beers of Glasgow. Come and taste some amazing festival cocktails all made from spirits distilled on the west coast of Scotland. Or make your way to the Loch Fyne Whisky Tent to discover your favourite west coast malt. Have a chat with representatives from the distilleries and enjoy a dram or two.

The best backdrop….
This Scottish festival couldn’t have a more picturesque setting. The iconic Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell, is one of Scotland’s most magnificent buildings. The castle’s imposing size and impressive turrets are visible for miles around. The castle’s beautifully maintained garden and estate offers wonderful walking with stunning Highland views. The Dun Na Cuaiche Woodland Walk is a circular 1.5 mile trail through Inveraray Castle estate to the summit of Dun na Cuaiche. Inside the castle you can view the lavish State Dining Room, the tapestries and the stunning Armoury Hall with its walls adorned with muskets, pole-arms and axes.

Inveraray itself is a classic example of an eighteenth-century planned town. Check out Inveraray Jail and the Inveraray Bell Tower.
