Swing into Helensburgh Golf Club!
If you love golfing in Scotland then you’ll love Helensburgh Golf Club. With a challenging moorland course, a rich history and a friendly atmosphere, it has everything you could want from a Scottish golf club. What’s more, the surrounding scenery is simply breathtaking. Golfers of all abilities have been enjoying the glorious views from Helensburgh Golf Course since 1893. If you want to join them, it couldn’t be easier. Visitors are more than welcome, and there’s a range of visitor golf packages available all year round. So why not swing into action this year and tee off at Helensburgh Golf Club?

This wonderful course, which sits high above Helensburgh town, is Scottish gem. The course is laid out over 18 holes of not-too-strenuous terrain, totaling 5,942 yards with a par of 69. It’s an enjoyable test of golf for all abilities, offering different challenges, from long straights to tree-lined dells. But what really sets this golf course apart from the others is the setting. To the south stretches the Clyde estuary and the hills of Arran and to the north lies Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. On a clear day, you’ll be treated to stunning views from nearly every tee. The 1st Tee (High Hopes) gives the first of many superb views of the Clyde estuary. From the 6th Tee (Loch Lomond) you’ll enjoy views across Loch Lomond and parts of the Trossachs. The 11th Tee (Clyde Arran) offers a fantastic vista over the Clyde to Arran. The final tee (Rolling Home) is a great finishing hole. The wide fairway invites you to open your shoulders – so go for it!

Then it’s time to relax and reflect on your round at the friendly clubhouse, where the bar is open from 11am each day. An extensive lunch menu, ranging from freshly prepared sandwiches to main course dishes, is on offer. The lounge is a great place for dining, with more fabulous views over the Clyde. The visitor packages include everything from pre-round breakfast to a full Scottish high tea.

Visitors to Helensburgh Golf Club can visit the pro shop, where the friendly team will take care of your equipment and training needs or just offer some friendly advice about tacking the course. There’s a 200-yard practice area with six bays, a chipping green and a short game area where you can hone your skills. If you want to improve your game, you can book lessons with Fraser Hall, Club Professional at Helensburgh since May 2005. Visit the state-of the-art Swing Studio to get equipment custom fitted to fit your swing.

It won’t cost you the earth to play at one of the best golf courses on the west coast of Scotland. Eighteen holes of golf at Helensburgh Golf Club costs £35. Eleven holes of golf costs £18. You can get a Day Ticket for £45. There are also ‘Early Bird’ and ‘Twilight’ times available. Groups of eight or more players can get a discounted package.
