Campbeltown, Kintyre’s major town, sits at the southern end of the peninsula. Located on a deep bay sheltered by Davaar Island and the surrounding hills, it’s an ideal base for exploring Kintyre. The town is full of character, with boats coming and going and streets packed with shops, cafés and restaurants. Campbeltown once had 34 distilleries, but today just three (Glen Scotia, Springbank and Glengyle) are left to maintain this regional subgroup of single malt whiskies. The town is full of history, and is home to the excellent Campbeltown Museum.
