Dunoon, Cowal’s only major town, is a lively place, with shops, art galleries, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops a plenty. It’s packed with history and heritage, from the iconic Dunoon Pier with its striking red-tiled roofs and timber in chocolate, cream and yellow to the wonderful Castle House Museum.

If you’re in search of outdoor activities, then Dunoon is an ideal base. The town is surrounded by large tracts of beautiful forest with fantastic walking and mountain bike trails. There are loads of other activities on offer in and around Dunoon, from golfing to kayaking, quad-biking to cruising.

Why not plan your visit around one of Dunoon’s events? From the world-famous Cowal Highland Gathering to the Dunoon Half Marathon there’s no better way to meet the locals, enjoy the region’s culture and have a great time.
