Beaches

Golden sands, aqua seas and machair dotted with wild flowers: some of Scotland’s most beautiful beaches are to be found all around the coastline of Argyll and the Isles. Backed by rugged mountains and ancient oak forests, you’ll find empty bays reminiscent of a scene from Robinson Crusoe. Some, like Calgary Bay on Mull with its shallow turquoise water and sugary sand, provide sheltered oases, while others are pounded by Atlantic rollers and make for world-class windsurfing, surfing and kite-surfing.

Build a fire, enjoy a solitary stroll, wild camp, catch a fish, sketch, picnic, paddle, swim, surf, fly a kite or beachcomb: the region’s beautiful beaches are waiting to be discovered in as energetic or laid-back style as you wish.
