Slate Islands Heritage Trust

The Slate Islands Heitage Centre is on Seil, a small island separated from the mainland only by the thinnest of sea channels which is spanned by a humpback Clachan Bridge, popularly known as the 'Bridge over the Atlantic'.

The island's main village, Ellenabeich, comprises neat white terraces of workers cottages, one of which houses an the heritage centre. In here you'll find photographs, artefacts and genealogical records related to the social and industrial life of the Slate Islands, particularly the people engaged in the former slate industry.
