Ocean Explorer Centre

Discover how the marine world works at the Ocean Explorer Centre at Dunstaffnage, situated three miles north of Oban.

With lots of interactive activities, from operating underwater cameras to 'feeling' a 3-D globe, it's a great day of discovery for all the family.

Young visitors will love to crawl through the Arctic tunnel to explore what creaking glaciers sound like and what animals live on, in and under the rapidly melting sea ice.

There's also a cool (polar themed) little cinema, which shows short films about the work of marine scientists.

The Café Scientifique – run by marine scientists and students - serves breakfast, lunch, snacks and home-baking.

The Ocean Explorer Centre is the visitor and outreach centre of the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) - Scotland's premier independent marine research institute and part of the University of the Highlands and Islands.
