Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich Distillery sits on the shore of Loch Lindal on the west of the island.

Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, the original building was considered state-of the-art for its time, developed from old farm buildings and constructed around a spacious courtyard. Much of the Victorian décor and equipment has been preserved including the original ‘open’ 7-tonne machtun, one of only a handful still in existence.

Using organically grown Scottish barley, Bruichladdich produces an exceptional range of whiskies which includes what is said to be the 'most heavily peated single malt whisky in the
