Glenbarr Abbey and the MacAlister Clan Visitor Centre

Glenbarr Abbey and the MacAlister Clan Visitor Centre is situated in the picturesque village of Glenbarr on the west side of the Kintyre peninsula.

Glenbarr Abbey itself is a glimpse of family living in a beautiful 18th-century house. There's a veritable wealth of exhibits, with 19th-century fashions, antique toys, original Spode dinner service, family jewellery, a unique thimble collection, wonderful patchworks and gloves worn by Mary Queen of Scots. Tours around the house are conducted by Jeanne Macalister, Lady Glenbarr.

There are lovely grounds with riverside and woodland walks, as well as a museum, gift shop, teas and coffees, picnic facilities and free parking.

Glenbarr Abbey is open to the public daily from Easter to Mid October between 11am to 4pm, but is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
