Basking Shark Scotland

Oban-based Basking Shark Scotland offers basking shark, wildlife excursions & snorkel safaris to the Inner Hebrides.

The main focus of the tours is boat based and in-water swimming experiences with the sharks. However they also run a dedicated seal trip from Oban to the pristine island lagoon which has a large colony of Harbour and Grey Seals.

Tours run from May-Sept with June, July and August being the peak season. The area of operation is known as a worldwide basking shark 'hotspot' and is also widely know as one of the best areas in Scotland for abundant marine wildlife. In addition to the regular shark sightings you might also see Minke Whales, Common & Bottlenose Dolphins, Common & Grey Seals, Porpoises, Eagles, Otters, Puffins and many species of seabird. Combine all of this wildlife with stunning scenery, volcanic wonders of Fingal’s cave, historical landscape of castles abbeys and ruins then the powerful Corryvreckan whirlpool - there is a huge amount to take in.

Full equipment hire available which includes 7mm thick wetsuits, hood, gloves, boots, fins, mask and snorkel. All of this designed to keep you warm.
